House Republicans Release Action Plan

Feb 22, 2019

Containing priorities ranging from infrastructure to criminal justice reform to auto insurance rates, the House Republican caucus released their 2019-2020 Action Plan. Titled “Leading the Way,” the plan is derived from input across the House Republican caucus including a committee of both returning legislators and newly elected Representatives. The committee was chaired by third term legislator, Representative Aaron Miller (R-Sturgis). “The House Republican caucus has released an action plan for each legislative term since 2011. They have utilized this tool to develop and prioritize the goals of their members,” explained Brendan Ringlever of MLC.

The caucus has identified five key areas where they will focus their efforts for the next two years:

Building Michigan’s Future: Through improved infrastructure, including roads, public water systems and broadband.

Defending Our Constitution and the American Way – Protecting constitutional rights, second amendment rights, and religious freedoms, and helping veterans.

Standing Up for the Most Vulnerable: Including improving the lives of the mentally ill and protecting unborn children.

Protecting People and Communities: Through criminal justice reform, including reintegration support and raising the age for adult criminal prosecution from 17 to 18, supporting law enforcement, and reforming civil asset forfeiture.

Continuing Michigan’s Comeback: Auto insurance reform to reduce rates, tax reforms, and helping farmers and strengthening our agricultural economy.
