House Democratic Caucus Releases Pandemic Recovery Plan

Members of the Michigan House Democratic Caucus unveiled their plan to help the state recovery from the pandemic, utilizing federal aid dollars. The plan appropriates the $5 billion in federal stimulus dollars to help Michigan workers, small businesses, families, and schools impacted by COVID-19. Specifically, the bill appropriates:

    • $90 million for vaccine distribution
    • $575 million to expand testing, contact tracing, and lab capacity
    • $2.1 billion in food assistance
    • $661 million for rental assistance and to help residents with winter utility bills
    • $2 billion for public schools
    • $270 million for small-business relief
    • Extends unemployment assistance from 20 to 26 weeks
