This week, Speaker-elect Tom Leonard (R-DeWitt Township) named Representative Laura Cox (R-Livonia) as House Appropriations Committee Chair for the upcoming legislative term. “Congratulations to Representative Cox! During her first term in office she’s been a thoughtful, deliberate, knowledgeable legislator. She will bring those same qualities, and a diverse professional background, to the appropriations process while working to develop the state’s budget during her time serving as Chairwoman,” said Sean Mann of MLC. Representative Cox currently serves on the Appropriations Committee; she is chair of the Subcommittee on General Government and vice chair of the Subcommittee on Judiciary.
Representative Cox is currently serving her first term in the state legislature. Prior to her time in the House, she served as a Wayne County Commissioner and a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent. She represents the 19th House District in Southeast Michigan.
