On Monday, Governor Rick Snyder signed ten bills into law, making reforms in several different areas. The measures include:

Allowing certain homeowners who sold their property at a loss to be exempt from the State Real Estate Transfer Tax under certain circumstances.

Elimination of the Health Insurance Claims Assessment and replacing it with the Insurance Provider Assessment.

Codifying that state driver’s licenses and identification cards must only be issued for the period of time that the federal government has verified that the applicant is legally present in the United States.

Clarification of how long beer, wine, or mixed spirit drinks must remain on the wholesaler’s warehouse floor before delivery to an off-premises or on-premises retailer.

Clarification of the process for creating the identification number of disability parking placards.

Allowing manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers to provide special licensees with beer and wine dispensing equipment, cooling equipment, and brand-logoed tents at fundraising events.

Creation of a consistent method for paying back remaining Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System (MPSERS) debt on schedule by gradually implementing a pension system best practice.
