Governor Signs Multiple Bills into Law

Since last Friday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed into law multiple bills in a range of areas. The new laws include:

Supplemental appropriations for Fiscal Year 2019, including adjustments within the Department of Health and Human Services to programs such as Medicaid.
Expanding the Neighborhood Enterprise Zone property tax exemption to $120,000.
A requirement that county boards of commissioners wishing to transfer power from an elected county board of road commissioners to themselves must place it on the ballot for voters to decide.
Parent companies can operate telepharmacies in Michigan, when there is supervision by a pharmacist at the parent company.
Childcare institutions must complete a fingerprint-based criminal history check for all staff members.
The creation of a mental health hotline, which will be available 24/7.
Insurers with over $500 million in annual premiums must establish an internal audit function.
