Governor Signs Flint Supplemental

Last Friday, Governor Rick Snyder signed a $30 million supplemental appropriation, which provides water bill credits to Flint residents. The credits provided will be for the portion of their water bill used for drinking, bathing, and cooking. However, residents are responsible for the sewer portion of the bill. Credit amounts will reflect rates paid at the time of billing. Additionally, customers who are behind on payments will have their late fees dropped. Commercial water accounts are also eligible and will have a 20% credit applied to their water bills. The City of Flint is in the process of developing a program to calculate and administer the credits. The program is anticipated to be implemented in a few weeks.
