Governor Signs Building Michigan Together Plan

This week, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a nearly $5 billion bipartisan supplemental funding bill. The plan aims to improve Michigan’s transportation, water, and high-speed internet infrastructure throughout the state. Appropriations within the plan include:

    • Nearly $2 billion to address critical water infrastructure needs, including:
      • $712 million for clean water initiatives to address storm and wastewater
      • $669 million for clean water infrastructure
      • $20 million for public health risk reduction
    • $645 million for Michigan’s infrastructure, including:
      • $317 million for road and bridge repairs
      • $66 million to improve public transportation
      • $25 million investment in the Mobility Futures Initiative
    • $450 million to improve state and local parks and trails
    • $250 million to improve access and adoption of broadband internet
    • $50 million investment in the Housing and Community Development Fund
    • $46 million to protect funding for public safety and first responders in cities, villages, and townships with population losses in the 2020 census
