Two new judges have been appointed to serve on the bench of the Genesee County and Washtenaw County Circuit Courts. Khary L. Hanible has been appointed to serve on the 7th Circuit Court of Genesee County. He currently serves as an assistant prosecutor within the county, working in the circuit court criminal division. Prior to his current position, he was a private practice attorney. Judge Hanible holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Michigan University and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. The appointment was made to fill a partial term following the retirement of Judge Joseph J. Farah effective November 9, 2022. Judge Hanible’s term commenced on December 7, 2022 and expires on January 1, 2025.
Ann Arbor deputy city attorney, Arianne Slay, has been appointed to serve on the bench of the 22nd Circuit Court of Washtenaw County. Prior to her current role, she was an assistant prosecutor for Washtenaw County. Judge Slay earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University and her Juris Doctor degree from Michigan State University College of Law. The appointment fills a partial term following the retirement of Judge Archie C. Brown effective July 31, 2022. Judge Slay’s term commenced on December 7, 2022 and expires on January 1, 2023. She was elected to succeed Judge Brown in November 2022 and will serve a full six-year term beginning January 1, 2023.
