Governor Makes Judicial Appointments

Governor Gretchen Whitmer has made two appointments on Circuit Courts in Michigan. Cori E. Barkman has been appointed to the 29th Circuit Court of Clinton and Gratiot Counties. Prior to her appointment, she served as First Assistant Attorney General in the Department of Corrections Division. Previously, she served as an administrative law judge at the St. Louis Correctional Facility and as senior litigation attorney in the Attorney General’s office. Ms. Barkman holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School. The appointment fills a partial term, expiring at noon on January 1, 2023.

Jennifer E. Deegan was appointed to the 57th Circuit Court of Emmet County. Prior to her appointment, she was a partner with Nelson, Deegan, Forster, and Stikovich, PC, practicing family and criminal law. She previously served as an assistant prosecuting attorney and practices in the juvenile court system. Ms. Deegan holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Michigan State University and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. The appointment fills a partial term, expiring at noon on January 1, 2023.
