Governor Makes Appointments to Environmental Rules Review Committee

Governor Rick Snyder announced the initial appointments to the Environmental Review Committee. Created by Public Act in 2018, the committee was created as an independent body within the Office of Performance and Transformation to oversee all rule-making of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. The board is comprised of four ex-officio department heads and 12 members, appointed by the governor, who represent different industries and organizations outlined in statute.

Terms Expiring October 4, 2020:

Janet Barlow – Owner and manager of Jan’s Professional Dry Cleaners, Inc.
James Clift – Policy director for the Michigan Environmental Council
Eric Pessell – Health officer for the Calhoun County Public Health Department
Nicholas Ramos – Manager of environmental policy for General Motors

Terms Expiring October 4, 2021:

Tyler Ernst – Assistant general counsel for Michigan Farm Bureau
Mark Fowler – Superintendent of water/wastewater for Boyne City
John Myers – Licensed professional engineer and director of innovation and business optimization for Waste Management of Michigan
Grant Trigger – Michigan cleanup manager for the Revitalizing Auto Communities Environmental Response Trust

Terms Expiring October 4, 2022:

Helen Taylor – State director for The Nature Conservancy
David Maness – President of Maness Petroleum
Fadi Mourad – Licensed professional engineer and the director of environmental strategy for DTE Energy
Robert Nederhood – Senior counsel for Foley and Lardner, LLP (an MLC client)

After initial appointments, members serve four-year terms subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
