Last Friday, Governor Rick Snyder announced the initial appointments to the Building the 21^st Century Economic Commission, which was created by Executive Order.  The twenty-three-member commission serves as an advisory body within the Executive Office.  Members are charged with identifying priorities over the next twenty years along with short and long-term action items.  The commission will issue a final report to the Governor by June 30, 2017.  In addition to the Gubernatorial and Legislative appointees, membership consists of several department directors or their representatives.

• Santanu Baruah, president and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce
• JoAnn Crary, president of Saginaw Future, Inc.
• Kathleen Dobies, engineering manager for Ford Motor Company
• James Holcomb, SVP and general counsel for the Michigan Chamber of Commerce
• Joseph Lauer, founder and CEO of Greenback, Inc.
• Jason McCormack, project manager and contractor for National Heritage Academies
• Timothy Nelson, president of Northwestern Michigan College
• Sandra Pierce, SVP for Huntington National Bank
• Thomas Pleger, president of Lake Superior State University
• Nedda Shayota, VP of Sigma Associates, Inc.
• Jessica Ann Tyson, president and owner of JA PR Group

Legislative Appointees:

• Kathleen Wilbur, appointed by the Speaker of the House
• Matthew Cullen, appointed by the House Minority Leader
• Bob DeVries, appointed by the Senate Majority Leader
• Lou Glazer, appointed by the Senate Minority Leader
