Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist will lead a new task force to review the racial disparities that are occurring among deaths from COVID-19. Currently in Michigan, 40% of COVID-19 deaths in Michigan are African American, but only 14% of Michigan residents are African American. The Task Force will include health care professionals from communities most impacts by the spread of the virus and will provide the governor with recommendations on how to address the disparity.
