Going PRO Kickoffs, Addressing Skilled-Labor Shortage

Jul 12, 2019

To address the skilled-labor gap in Michigan, the state has launched a new public-private partnership program named Going PRO. Through 2026 it’s estimated the state will need to fill 545,00 skilled-labor jobs. Michigan employers’ have been facing challenges finding highly skilled employees and cited it as a top concern in the recent Michigan Future Business Index Report.

The campaign will highlight the diverse range of high-skilled trade occupations and industries – careers often referred to as professional trades. It aims to dispel the myths about these jobs and showcase the numerous career options, including welders, electrical lineworkers, dental hygienists, web developers, and more.

Throughout 2019, 90% of Michigan residents between the ages of 15 and 64 will experience Going PRO messaging through social media platforms, media coverage, advertising, and public forums.
