District Overview
The 97th House District includes Arenac, Clare, and Gladwin Counties and a portion of Osceola County.
Commentary
Representative Jason Wentworth (R) is running for a second term in office. The district has a 64% Republican base and has been trending more Republican. While the district narrowly voted for the 2014 Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, it has supported Republican candidates in the past few election cycles. In 2016, Representative Wentworth won the general election with 64% of the vote. This would be a tough seat for the Democrats to pick up in November.
