District Overview

The 79^th House District is located in Berrien County in Southwest Michigan.

Commentary

Representative Kim LaSata (R) chose to run for an open Senate seat instead of a second term in this House seat. The district has a 57% Republican base and Pauline Wendzel is running a smart campaign, so the Democrats will have their work cut out for them if they want to try to capture this seat.

Democratic Candidate:

Joey Andrews – Attorney, small business owner, solar installer

Republican Candidate:

Pauline Wendzel – Product brand development manager at Coloma Frozen Foods, former Bainbridge Township Assistant Deputy Clerk, former programs director at North Berrien Historical Museum
