District Overview

The 61^st House District located in southeast Michigan includes portions of Macomb County, Sterling Heights, Clinton Township, and Mt. Clemens.

Commentary

In another race to watch this November, this competitive seat is nearly split with the Democratic base being slightly higher at 52%. Both parties have performed well in different portions of this newly drawn district, making it one to watch next month.

Democratic Candidate:

- Denise Mentzer – Mount Clemens City Commissioner, senior buyer with the Macomb County purchasing department.

Republican Candidate:

- Mike Aiello – Chiropractor.
