General Election Overview: 54th House District

District Overview

The 54^th House district is located in southeast Michigan in portions of Oakland County. It includes Bloomfield Hills, and portions of Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Township, Oakland Township, and Orion Township.

Commentary

Republicans have an edge in this newly drawn seat with a 53% base. Given the makeup of the district, its likely this seat will be quite competitive. The Republican candidate has experience being elected to local office, which will provide some help with name recognition in that township.

Democratic Candidate:

- Shadia Martini – Owns a real estate brokerage firm, construction company, and medical spa. Former professor at the University of Aleppo and researcher at the University of Vienna.

Republican Candidate:

- Donni Steele – Orion Township treasurer, former member of the Orion Township Board of Trustees, small business owner.
