Through the general election on November 8, on every Tuesday and Thursday on the MLC Blog we will be highlighting races for which due to the voter base the seat could be won by either the Democratic or Republican candidate.  Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available, in addition to a portion of endorsements (when applicable).

District Overview

The 32^nd House District is located in Macomb and St Clair Counties.  It includes the townships of Chesterfield, Casco, Columbus, Ira, Kenockee, Kimball, Riley, and Wales.  Additionally, it includes the city of New Baltimore and a portion of the cities of Memphis, and Richmond.  The district has a 53% Republican base.

Commentary

Current State Representative Andrea LaFontaine (R-Columbus) can’t run for reelection in this seat due to term limits.  Before the latest redistricting the seat was a toss-up, but since 2010 the Republican base has become stronger.  While this seat may be a far reach for the Democratic candidate, winning the seat is still considered a possibility.  Republican candidate Pamela Hornberger has received several endorsements, including Representative LaFontaine, Macomb County Commissioner Kathy Vosburg, Business Leaders of Michigan, Michigan Bankers Association, amongst many other.

• Pamela Hornberger – Public school teacher, L’Anse Creuse Public School Board of Education Treasurer.
