District Overview

The 27^th House District is located in Wayne County and includes Gibraltar, Riverview, Trenton, Wyandotte, Grosse Ile Township, and a portion of Southgate.

Commentary

The Democratic party has a slight advantage in this district with a 50.9% base. This seat is open, without an incumbent in the race. Given that, and the near 50/50 split in this district, this is a race to watch in November.

Democratic Candidate:

- Jaime Churches – Teacher, union vice president.

Republican Candidate:

- Bob Howey – Small business owner, former Trenton City Councilman.
