District Overview

The 20^th Senate District is located in Kalamazoo County.

Commentary

Republican Senator Margaret O’Brien is running for a second term in this seat. Given the base, which tends to lean more Democratic, it will be extremely competitive this November. In 2014, Senator O’Brien won this seat by only 61 votes over Democratic candidate Sean McCann.

Democratic Candidate:

Sean McCann – Former State Representative, former Kalamazoo City Commissioner, small business owner.

Republican Candidate:

Margaret O’Brien – State Senator, former State Representative, former Portage City Council member, realtor, former social worker.

Libertarian Candidate:

Lorence Wenke – Former Republican State Representative, former Kalamazoo County Commissioner, small business owner.
