District Overview

The 19^th House district is located in a portion of Wayne County and includes part of Livonia.

Commentary

Republican Representative Laura Cox is foregoing a third term to run for an open Senate seat. This district has a 55% Republican base; however, the base is softening. The Democratic candidate is a newcomer, having never held public office before. The Republican candidate has been elected multiple times to the Livonia City Council.

Brian Meakin – Livonia City Councilman, insurance agency president, chairman of the Livonia Employee Retirement System, president of the Livonia Community Foundation, former member of the Livonia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
