General Election Overview: 110th House District

Nov 01, 2018

Through the general election on November 6, the MLC Blog will be highlighting races generally considered swing seats, ones either party could win because of the voter base.  Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

 District Overview

The 110th House District is located in the western portion of the Upper Peninsula.  It includes Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties, and a portion of Marquette County.

 Commentary

Democratic Representative Scott Dianda is serving his third and final term in office. Despite the 56% Republican base, this district voted overwhelmingly for Representative Dianda during the past election cycles. However, in 2016, 56% of the district voted for President Donald Trump. Other than Representative Dianda, the district votes for Republican candidates and it remains to be seen if it will support another Democratic candidate this year.

Democratic Candidate:

  • Ken Summers – Small business owner, worked in finance

Republican Candidate:
