Economic Incentive Bills Move

This week, the House passed a bill package aimed at helping communities across the state remain competitive in attracting businesses. The bills create the “Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve Fund,” which creates an incentive program allowing the state to invest in economic development projects through funding tax incentives, site preparation, and workforce training opportunities. The legislature would put money into the fund and be in control of when and how the funds get used Any project agreements would include benchmarks, reporting requirements, and provisions to collect repayment to ensure businesses keep their promises. The bills were sent to the Senate for consideration. On Thursday, the Senate passed identical versions of House bills. Those will be sent to the House for consideration.
