Director Receives National Recognition

Brad Deacon, Director of Legal Affairs and Emergency Management for the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was recently recognized by the Partnership for Food Safety Education as a “2020 Food Safety Hero” for his outstanding work in emergency preparedness. Mr. Deacon, who joined the department in May 1999, was the only representative from Michigan to be recognized. “It’s great to see Brad’s tireless work on behalf of the people of Michigan recognized on the national level. He is a great asset in state government and this award is well deserved. Congratulations, Brad!” said Brendan Ringlever of MLC.

The Partnership for Food Safety Education delivers trusted, science-based behavioral health messaging and a network of resources that support consumers in their efforts to reduce risk of foodborne illness.
