The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has pledged 50 million trees by 2030 and is inviting residents to help them achieve their goal. The Mi Trees campaign is part of a global effort to plant more trees to help communities adapt to the world’s changing climate. The department’s website houses an interactive online map where residents are encouraged to log any trees they plant.
Michigan has 20 million acres of state forests, which is nearly half of the state’s entire area. Nearly 4 million of that is managed by the DNR.
