Committee Membership Changes Announced

The membership of several House and Senate committees was announced this week to reflect the changing membership of the chambers. In the House, members were added to committees after former Representatives Senator Mark Huizenga (R-Walker) and Senator Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) left following recent elections to the Senate.

    • Representative Sue Allor (R-Wolverine) was appointed to the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee
    • Representative Andrew Beeler (R-Fort Gratiot) was appointed to the Energy Committee
    • Representative Joe Bellino (R-Monroe) was appointed to the Rules and Competitiveness Committee
    • Representative Ben Frederick (R-Owosso) will serve on the Appropriations Committee, and chair the Higher Education Subcommittee
    • Representative Andrew Fink (R-Hillsdale) was appointed to the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee
    • Representative Beth Griffin (R-Mattawan) was appointed to the Judiciary Committee
    • Representative Phil Green (R-Millington) was appointed to the School Aid Appropriations Subcommittee
    • Representative Luke Meerman (R-Polkton Twp.) was appointed vice chair of the Families, Children, and Seniors Committee
    • Representative Rodney Wakeman (R-Freeland) was appointed to the Communications and Technology Committee

In the Senate, the following committee membership changes were made:

    • Senator Huizenga will serve on the Appropriations Committee, and the subcommittees on the Department of Health and Human Services, General Government and Labor and Economic Growth. Additionally, he will serve on the Economic and Small Business Development Committee, the Education and Career Readiness Committee, and the Regulatory Reform Committee.
    • Senator Wozniak was appointed to serve on the following committees: the Energy and Technology Committee, Families, Seniors, and Veterans Committee, Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, Oversight Committee, and the Transportation Committee.
    • Senator Stephanie Chang (D-Detroit) was appointed to the Oversight Committee
    • Senator Sean McCann (D-Kalamazoo) was appointed to the General Government Appropriations Subcommittee
