Chief Medical Executive Testifies Before Congress

This week, Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, Michigan’s chief medical executive, testified before the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee on the state’s vaccination efforts and federal needs. During her testimony, she highlighted the state’s efforts to prioritize operational efficiency and equity in its vaccination efforts. Additionally, Dr. Khaldun outlined the comprehensive vaccination strategy the state has launched, including:

- 70% of residents 16 and older vaccinated
- 90% of received vaccines are administered within seven days
- 95% of people get their second dose within the expected time frame
- No disparities in vaccination rates across racial and ethnic groups or by social vulnerability index
- No one has to drive more than 20 minutes to reach a vaccination site
