Candidates File for Open House Seat

This week was the filing deadline for candidates seeking to fill the open 1^st House District seat. The seat is in Wayne County and includes Grosse Pointe Woods, Harper Woods, and portions of the City of Detroit and the Village of Grosse Pointe Shores. The seat was left vacant following the resignation of former Representative Brian Banks in February. The district has a 70% Democratic base and whoever wins the Democratic primary race in August is all but assured to win in the general election this November. The deadline for candidate's to withdraw from the race was Friday, April 28 at 4 p.m. Official campaign websites are linked below, as available.
