This week, Diana Farrington, the Republican candidate in the 30th House District, filed a lawsuit seeking the removal of her Democratic challenger, Michael Notte. According to the lawsuit, Mr. Notte is ineligible to run for the seat because he didn’t meet residency requirements. “The law states a candidate needs to live in district for at least thirty days prior to filing to run for the seat. Ms. Farrington is arguing that her challenger did not reside within the district for the necessary time prior to the April 19 filing deadline. As such, she’s stating the court needs to remove him from this November’s general election ballot,” stated Brendan Ringlever of MLC. The 30th district is located in Macomb County and includes Utica and portions of Shelby Charter Township and Sterling Heights.
