Budget Director Resigns, New Director Named

Jan 19, 2018

Late last Friday afternoon it was announced that State Budget Director Al Pscholka is resigning, effecting February 28. Serving as his replacement will be the Governor’s Director of Strategy, John Walsh. “John will have big shoes to fill when he takes over Al’s role as budget director. But from our long relationship with John when he was in leadership in the House, we know he is more than up for the task. Congratulations John from the entire MLC team,” said Tim Ward, President of MLC.

Al Pscholka assumed the director role in January 2017, after being term-limited from running for re-election in the Michigan House of Representatives. During his last term in the House, he served as chair of the House Appropriations Committee.

The incoming budget director, John Walsh, has served in his currently role in the Governor’s office since 2015. Prior to that, he served three terms in the Michigan House, including serving as Speaker Pro Tempore.

Replacing Mr. Walsh as Director of Strategy will be Angela Ayers. She currently serves as Deputy Director in the Governor’s Strategic Policy Office as well as Deputy Director of the Office of the Great Lakes.
