Assistant Attorney General Assigned to Upper Peninsula Office

For the first time in more than a decade, the Department of Attorney General has stationed an assistant attorney general in the Upper Peninsula. Late last year, Attorney General Dana Nessel announced plans to expand services to U.P. residents by staffing the Marquette Office, located on Northern Michigan University’s campus, with a full-time assistant attorney general.

Assistant Attorney General Jessica Pelto has been assigned to the satellite office. Ms. Pelto grew up in the U.P. and attended Northern Michigan University. She earned her law degree at Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Ms. Pelto is assigned to the Attorney General’s Department of Corrections (DOC) Division and will primary handle the defense of DOC and its employees.
