Advice and Consent Hearing Held

Aug 26, 2016

This week, the Senate Energy Committee held an advice and consent hearing for the newly appointed commissioner to the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), Rachael Eubanks.  To start the hearing, Ms. Eubanks provided the committee members an overview of her professional background.  Following that, members were afforded the opportunity to ask questions.  In response to several questions, Ms. Eubanks stated that she views her position as implementing the legislature’s policy and not making that of her own.  When asked how she envisions her relationship with legislators, she stated she welcomes an open line of communication and will provide decision makers with real time information impacting policies before them.

At the conclusion of the meeting, committee Chairman Senator Mike Nofs (R-Battle Creek) made a motion for the Senate Government Operations Committee to favorably report Ms. Eubanks’ appointment.  The motion was unanimously adopted nine to zero.
