With less than one week until the general election, nearly 2 million residents have requested an absentee ballot and 1.1 million voters have already returned them. This is a 73% increase from the number of absentee ballots requested one week ahead of the 2018 midterm election. Absentee voting has been on the rise in Michigan since voters passed a proposal allowing no-reason absentee voting in 2018 and continued to rise in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In order for an absentee ballot to be counted, it must be received at clerk offices or drop boxes by 8 p.m. on Election Day. For your voting information, please visit Michigan.gov/vote.
