David Worthams has been appointed to serve on the Michigan Civil Rights Commission by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. He is the director of employment policy for the Michigan Manufacturers Association. Mr. Worthams holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Western Michigan University and a Master of Science in Legal Studies from Kaplan University. He is appointed to serve a term that began on May 26, 2022 and expires December 31, 2025. He succeeds Ira Combs whose term expired. The appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
The Michigan Civil Rights Commission was created by the Michigan Constitution to carry out the guarantees against discrimination. The eight-member Commission is charged with investigating alleged discrimination against any person because of religion, race, color or national origin, genetic information, sex, age, marital status, height, weight, arrents records, and physical and mental disability.
