District Overview
The 27th House District is located in southeast Michigan and includes parts of Southgate and Gibraltar, and Riverview, Trenton, Wyandotte, and Grosse Ile Township in Wayne County.
Commentary
The 27th district is nearly evenly split, with the Democratic party having a 50.9% base and the Republican party with a 49.1% base. Not only will the Republican primary race be one to watch in the August Primary, but this district will also be closely watched during the general election. Not much is known about the Republican candidates, but thus far Kevin Counts has stepped out from the pack by garnering endorsements from local elected officials and Representative Robert Bezotte, which could give him a slight edge over the other Republican candidates.
