Food and Agriculture Month Declared

Governor Gretchen Whitmer proclaimed March as Food and Agriculture month to honor and celebrate the state’s farmers, diversity of products grown and processed in our state, and the partnerships that keep the industry thriving. According to information from the executive office, the industry is annually responsible for 805,000 jobs and more than $104 billion of economic impact.

Throughout Michigan Food and Agriculture Month, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is partnering and showcasing various events with commodity organizations, McDonald’s of Michigan (an MLC client), the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, and others to highlight the various facets of the state’s food and agriculture sector and provide opportunities to learn more about how the food and agriculture industry impacts and improves the lives of Michigan residents.
