On Wednesday, Governor Rick Snyder announced that as part of his upcoming budget proposal on February 10, he would ask the legislature to approve a $30 million water consumption credit plan for the residents of Flint to keep their water service on and eliminate the need to pay for water they cannot completely trust to drink. The following day, the Senate passed legislation appropriating $30 million to credit the residents of Flint for payments of their water bills since April 2014. The appropriation would come from the current fiscal year’s General Fund. The bill has been sent to the House for further consideration.
