Governor Creates Office of Performance and Transformation

Feb 05, 2016

On Tuesday, February 2, Governor Rick Snyder issued Executive Order 2016-4 creating the Office of Performance and Transformation (OPT).  The new office will be housed within the State Budget Office, and is tasked with working with state departments to establish a more effective system of customer service, performance measurement, and regulatory and business practices.  The OPT is also charged with creating the Center for Reinventing Performance in Michigan, which will facilitate lean process initiatives and provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management feedback for state and agency employees.  Additionally, the order moves the Office of Regulatory Reinvention and the Office of Good Government into the OPT.  The order takes effect in sixty days.  The Governor has not yet announced who will be heading up the OPT.
