Stakeholders announced this week that a deal had been reached to finalize the state budget prior to the start of the new fiscal year on October 1, 2021. Senate Appropriations Chairman Jim Stamas (R-Midland), House Appropriations Chairman Thomas Albert (R-Lowell), and State Budget Director Dave Massaron, jointly announced they’ve come to an agreement to ensure the budget is finalized on time, preventing a state government shutdown. The agreement signals the legislature will move forward with an omnibus budget but doesn’t provide additional details. The process is expected to proceed normally with conference committees and a floor vote in the upcoming week.
