Mackinac Bridge Security Under Review

After a series of recent safety and security issues in, on and around the Mackinac Bridge – including an unsubstantiated bomb threat last month that halted traffic across the bridge for nearly three hours – a House Committee held hearings to assess those threats as well as ask questions of those responsible for the safety of the “Mighty Mac.”

“I didn’t want to come here today to make people feel uncomfortable, and I know that when we’re dealing with security, sometimes people get a little antsy because they don’t want to talk about it — and I get that. But yet, this body is representatives and again, we need to ask those questions,” said Representative Jack O’Malley, chairman of the House Transportation Committee.
