Representative Derek Miller Named Macomb County Treasurer

On Friday morning it was announced that Representative Derek Miller (D-Warren) has been named Macomb County Treasurer, replacing Treasurer Ted Wahby who passed away last month. He was selected by a committee comprised of Probate Judge Kathryn George, Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith, and Macomb County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh. Representative Miller will have to resign his House seat, however the date for that is yet to be announced. His resignation will create a fourth vacancy in the House. Governor Rick Snyder would likely call for a special election primary and general election to fill the vacant seat. The three other open seats will be filled by a special election in March.
