Quentin L. Messer, Jr. was appointed the new CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) by the MEDC Executive Committee. He currently works as the President and CEO of the New Orleans Business Alliance, a position he’s held since 2015. Prior to that, he served as the assistant secretary at Louisiana Economic Development as well as a private sector consultant. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and his Juris Doctor and Master of Business administration from Columbia University’s Law and Business Schools. Mr. Messer replaces Mark Burton who stepped down from the position in March. His appointment is effective July 19, 2021.
As CEO, Mr. Messer will be charged will implementing and executing MEDC’s core mission of business development and attraction, community development, providing access to capital, and enhancing Michigan’s image and brand. His responsibilities will include administering all programs, funds, personnel, contracts, and all other administrative functions of the MEDC.
