This week, the Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development elected new officers for the 2016-2017 year. Serving as chair will be Fred Walcott of Valley View Pork, LLC. Dru Montri, owner and operator of Ten Hens Farm, will serve as vice chair. Elected as secretary is Bob Kennedy, who is the area manager for The Anderson’s. The commission is a bipartisan board appointed by the Governor, which is tasked with recommending and, in some cases, determining, and policy on food, agriculture, and rural development issues.
