Extended Unemployment Benefits End

Apr 16, 2021

On April 17, Michigan’s extended unemployment benefits program ended due to Michigan’s lower unemployment rate. Extended benefits are available when Michigan’s total unemployment rate averages 6.5% or higher for three consecutive months.  It provides an additional 13-20 weeks of benefits for those who have exhausted their regular benefits and other extension programs. Since the program was triggered due to the unemployment rate, Michigan paid approximately $419 million to claimants.
