On Tuesday, January 19, Governor Rick Snyder delivered his sixth annual State of the State address, focusing on immediate challenges facing Michigan and the steps he is proposing to solve those problems. As stated in our blog post that evening, the Governor focused a majority of his time on the Flint water crisis and Detroit Public Schools. Additionally, he announced his intention to create three new commissions. The first commission would work on creating a 2s1t century educational system, a second would work on a 21st century infrastructure system, and the third would focus on creating a 21st century economy in Michigan.
Following the address, several key documents were released on the Governor’s website, including one-pagers on education and a second on ending the Flint water crisis, and a two-page timeline of key dates during the ongoing Flint water crisis.
