General Election Overview: 38th House District

District Overview

The 38^th House District is located in Oakland County. It includes Lyon and Novi Townships, Novi, South Lyon, Walled Lake, and a portion of Northville.

Commentary

Republican Representative Kathy Crawford is serving her third and final term in office due to term limits, leaving this seat open. The district has a 57% Republican base. In 2016, President Trump received 51.92% of the vote, but in 2018 Governor Whitmer received 53.94% of the vote. Democratic candidate Kelly Breen is running again this year in now an open seat after nearly beating incumbent Rep. Crawford in 2018.

Republican Candidate:

- Chase Turner – Works at his family’s marketing firm, worked as field director for a congressional race in 2018
