District Overview

The 23^rd House District is located in Wayne County. It includes Brownstown, Grosse Ille, and Huron Townships, Gibraltar, Trenton, and Woodhaven.

Commentary

Democratic Representative Darrin Camilleri is running for his third term in office in this swing district. He is running against a political newcomer this November. This district has a 53% Republican base. In 2016 President Trump received 56.34% of the vote, while in 2018 Governor Whitmer received 51.97% of the vote.

During his second term in office, Representative Camilleri has served on the following committees:

- Commerce and Tourism
- Education, Minority Vice Chair
- Oversight

Democratic Candidate:

- John Poe – Police officer, small business owner
