Through the general election on November 3, the MLC Blog will be highlighting races generally considered swing seats, ones either party could win because of the voter base. Candidate’s website and professional information is listed when available.

District

The 7^th US House District includes Branch, Eaton, Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, and Monroe Counties and a portion of Washtenaw County.

Commentary

Congressman Tim Walberg is running for his seventh term in Congress. He currently served on the following committees:

- House Committee on Energy and Commerce
  - Subcommittee on Energy
  - Subcommittee on Communications and Technology
- House Committee and Education and Labor
  - Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions (Ranking member)

The district has a 59% Republican base. In 2016, President Trump received 59.01% of the vote, while in 2018 Governor Whitmer received 47.64% of the vote.

Democratic Candidate:

Gretchen Driskell – Former State Representative, Mayor, City Councilwoman, and commercial real estate agent.

Republican Candidate:

Congressman Tim Walberg – Six-term Congressman, previously worked as a pastor, served in the State House, and worked for Moody Bible Institute.
