District Overview
The 19th House District is located in Wayne County and includes a portion of Livonia.
Commentary
Representative Laurie Pohutsky will be running for her second term in office this November, having not received a primary challenger. Her victory as a Democratic candidate in 2018 surprised many insiders as the district has historically leaned Republican. This August people will be focused on the Republican primary race. Despite being currently represented by a Democrat, this district has a 56% Republican base.
In 2016 President Trump received 53.97% of the vote, while in 2018 Governor Whitmer received 53.34% of the vote.
