Following the passing of Representative Isaac Robinson (D-Detroit) on March 29, Governor Gretchen Whitmer called for a special primary and general election to fill the vacant seat. The special primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 4 and the special general election will be held on Tuesday, November 3. Both dates coincide with the regular primary and general election dates for the year. Candidates wishing to be placed on the primary ballot must file by April 21.
The 4th House District is located in Wayne County. It includes the City of Hamtramck and a portion of the City of Detroit.
